BIOGRAPHY

I was raised in the town (now city) of Des Moines Washington, where my parents owned the local Bakery/Deli, the B&E Bakery. I grew up in the "Happy Days" of the 50's and 60's, working after school in the family business. The Deli and Soda Fountain was the haunt of most local teens, so I didn't have to go far to have fun with my friends. I was raised on the water in Des Moines (South of Seattle) 1957-1960 Juke Box.

TAKE ME BACK TO THE SIXTIES!

1960 ...Graduated Highline High School (Go Pirates!) after briefly attending Mt. Rainier High in Des Moines. Got married and had two children.

1960-1963...Apprentice Cake Decorator (my mom, Violet, was a "premiere cake decorator") B&E Bakery, family business.

1963- Achieved Journeyman status and went to work for Albertson's. Local 9 Union, Bakery and Confectionery Workers. the family business was sold).

1963-1967... Albertson's', Cake Decorator. Responsible for setting up new in-store Cake Decorating Stations. Did the Cake and Cream Case items for Grand Openings. Worked the Washington, California area for them.

1967-1969...Hired by The Bon Marché to Supervise and decorate all custom cakes for their 11 in-store retail Bakery shops. Served as the Union Shop Steward in 1968 and 1969. Union Negotiator for the Allied Stores Contracts with Local 9 and was instrumental in warding off a "Strike" in 1969.

1969...Achieved status as "The Fastest Cake Decorator in the World" by Finish decorating over 250 cakes in just under nine hours 10 min. (my record is still unbroken). Went on the road part-time with The Lucks Company, Wholesale Bakery Supply, to demonstrate their product lines and assist in research and development of the now famous "Rose Making Machines" that supplies ready-made icing roses to thousands of retail bakeries throughout the U.S.

I also helped design sugar "lay-ons" for cake decorators with the Lucks Company while still working full time for The Bon Marché. I began teaching cake decorating in the evenings to those interested in entering the profession.

1969...Left the Bon Marché to open "Creative Cake Services", Professional Baking School in Burien Washington. Local 9 hired my graduate students and placed them in many Safeway and Albertson stores. I was given "Certified Instructor" status by the Unions and trained many bakers and cake decorators who are still working in the field today. Was hired by The Lucks Company to go "on the road" and demonstrate their many product lines. I became the first woman in the wholesale Baking Industry to be hired as a Traveling Account Executive for the Lucks Company. I traveled extensively and worked all major Bakery Conventions, teaching and selling product lines to their jobbers as well as calling on individual bakeries, hotels and restaurants in Washington and Oregon. Left the Baking Industry in 1976 after completing my licensing requirements for Real Estate Salesperson.

1977-1983...Worked as a Realtor in the Shelton Mason County area of Washington State as a waterfront specialist, after purchasing my first waterfront home here in Shelton. Began with Don Benson Realty, in 1976 Attended the Graduate Real Estate Institute in 1977 and earned the GRI professional Designation. (Graduate Realtor). Worked for Don Benson Realty until 1979, when I went to work for Spot Realty in Belfair. Was with Spot Realty until relocating to the Aleutian Islands of Alaska at Dutch Harbor in 1983, where I ran a cabin Industry Bakery to supply the local stores and fishing vessels with fresh baked goods. Also did property management part-time.

1987-1989...Relocated to Anchorage Alaska and was hired by Carr-Gottstein to set-up and train cake decorators for their 17 stores throughout Alaska. Teaching as Bakery Technical Specialist for Carrs.

Was in charge of product development, training, supervising and construction of all cake decorating departments. Introduced a new line of Gourmet cakes for Carrs'...and went on to design and open the Flagship store at Huffman Road in Anchorage.

If you visit Alaska, go to any Carr's Super Store (Now Owned by Safeway, Inc.) and look at the lighted back-bar photos of decorated specialty cakes. They are my work. All of the Carrs' Cake Decorators were personally trained by me. I was responsible for an 11 million dollar increase in Bakery sales for the Carrs Stores in the two years I worked for them.

January 1990-present...Moved back to Shelton Washington and went back into Real Estate with Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties in 1992. I Left C.B.P.P. to work for RH&L Realty in 1994. In 1997 I hung my license with Mason County Realty where I worked as their Waterfront Specialist and Associate Broker.

July 1999 - Nominated and accepted in the "WHO's WHO" National Registry, 2000 Edition

June 2000 - Achieved NAR Professional e-PRO Designation as Internet Professional

August 2000 - After completing 750 hours of continuing education and research, I was Licensed as a Real Estate Instructor for State of Washington, WAR and NAR. Licensed to teach substantive hours for Mini- e-PRO Courses, Real Estate Fundamentals, Property Development, Construction, Internet Marketing and Innovative Technology as Applied to Real Estate, Brokerage Management, Business Management, Ethics and Standards of Practice.
