THE WALL OF GLASS
His deep green eyes are yearning
Smiling with abandon
How I long to join him there
Through the wall of glass…
His smile says, "I love you"
And I want to be beside you
I wish that I could hear him
Through the wall of glass…
Each moment there is stolen
So sweet is the forbidden
He can’t linger long or touch me
Through the wall of glass…
We hunger for lost freedom
And the passions that need filling
But we cannot even kiss here
Through the wall of glass…
So painful is the needing
So brief the times I see him
If only I could talk with him
Through the wall of glass…
Too soon he’s walking back inside
To where I cannot see him
I hate that empty courtyard
Through the wall of glass…
