Sounds of Silence

Thundering loudly speaks the silence

Ominous roaring from the quiet,

Throngs and multitudes share my lonely

 filling my spaces with shadowy riot.

Startled by the stillness all around me

 crouching cowardly to catch me aware,

Silently stalking comes the wondering;

Are these thoughts I’m thinking even there?

As surely as night sucks the heat from sunbeams

 darkness smothers the heat from warm…

giving the mind no solitude’s solace,

 lending the consciousness nothing of form.
